True South Lager is an Australian lager that feels like it’s been pulled forward from another era - the kind of beer you’d find in a country pub in the 70's, sun coming through lace curtains, carpet worn in all the right places. Brewed with locally sourced barley and hops, it’s crisp, sessionable and uncomplicated, made for hot afternoons, battered esky lids, cricket on the radio and long weekends that roll slowly into evening.
We worked with True South to develop a brand positioning and identity that draws on nostalgic Australian pub culture and reimagines it for today. The visual language takes cues from aged photography, vintage signage and straight-forward beer branding of the time - warm tones, simple typography and a slightly lived-in feel, then paired it with a contemporary sensibility so it still feels current, not costume.
The result is a lager that feels instantly familiar, like it’s always been there, while still carrying a quiet cool. It celebrates the unpretentious social rituals of drinking beer in Australia: the sticky pub table, the community hall, the barbecue, the beach car park at sunset. True South is designed to feel quintessentially Australian without leaning into parody - a genuine nod to the past, brewed for people today who appreciate character, nostalgia and a really good, easy beer.
